SMOKE AND MIRRORS FILM COMPETITION – RULES:
- Your entry must be your own work
- Your entry must not infringe on the copyright or any other rights of any third parties
- There is no agreement with any other person, which shall in any way interfere with any rights granted to the organizers hereafter
- Entries must not be defamatory or obscene
- This competition is only open to individuals and small groups of less than 4, that are all UK residents and aged between 14 and 18 (incl. 18) on Friday 25th September 2009.
- If you enter the competition this means that you accept the full competition terms and conditions (the rules of the competition). You can find these at seethroughtheillusion.co.uk/terms-conditions. You should make sure you read these before you upload your entry, and if you are under 18 you should check with your parent or guardian that they are happy for you to enter this competition based on these Terms and Conditions.
- If you are under 18 and you are shortlisted / picked as a winner, we will need your parent’s or guardians permission in writing, if we can’t get this permission we may award the prize to another entrant.
- We will only use the information that you submit about yourself (including name, contact details and birth date) in relation to this competition, unless you have subscribed to our newsletter updates. You can change your preferences and amend your details at any time in your account settings.
- We will only use the information you submit about your parent or guardian in relation to this competition (including that you are eligible to enter it) and will not use for any other purposes.
- Entrants must complete in full the ONLINE or POSTAL ENTRY FORM with the title of and between 20-100 words describing their concept for a short film.
- All entries will be approved by the organiser and published on the website but will only disclose user name and title of entry.
- Multiple entries are accepted.
- Entries must be received by 5pm Friday 25th September 2009. Entries will then be short listed.
- The highest rated entries will be specially noted by the judges. However being among the highest rated will not guarantee a place at the campaign weekend. Each and every entry will be judged on merit not just it’s rating.
- If short listed you will be invited to attend the campaign weekend on 10th /11th October 2009 in Chester. The organisers WILL NOT reimburse travel costs. Short listed entrants will be contacted w/c 28th September 2009.
- Attendance at the campaign weekend is not mandatory if you are unable or do not wish to attend your entry may still be taken forward, however we reserve the right to offer the place to another entrant.
- The short listed entries will be developed at the campaign weekend where the panel of young people will select 3 winners. Winners will be contacted w/c 12th October 2009.
- The winners will be given the opportunity to work with the film makers to produce their film (they must be available with parent(s) or guardian(s) if under (18) The organisers will endeavor to incorporate key dates to suit the winners.
- The organisers reserve the right to seek and issue publicity on behalf of the short list and winners.
SMOKE AND MIRRORS FILM COMPETITION – TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
- These are the contest rules (”Rules”) and apply to Smoke and Mirrors Film Competition unless otherwise expressly stated. By entering this Competition, entrants agree to be bound by these Rules. - To enter the competition you must register online at seethroughtheillusion.co.uk
- Entries must be completed in full, and comply with all rules to be eligible for the prize. No responsibility is accepted for ineligible entries.
- Entrants must complete the online form at seethroughtheillusion.co.uk and upload between 20-100 words describing their concept. This can be either solo or as part of small group of no more than 4.
- Entries may also be submitted by post. Entrants wishing to do this must use the official Entry Form available on seethroughtheillusion.co.uk or contact smokeandmirrors@viv-id.co.uk with the subject title SMOKE&MIRRORS Entry Form, complete and return this to: Smoke & Mirrors, 5 Century Street, Deansgate Locks, Manchester, M3 4QL.
- This competition is only open to individuals and groups that are resident in the North West of England.
- Entrants must be aged between 14 and 18 (includes 18) on Friday 25th September 2009.
- Multiple entries per person are allowed.
- Entries must not contain defamatory or obscene material.
- All entries must be completely original. The contest organisers accept no liability if entrants ignore this rule and entrants agree to indemnify fully Smokefree North West against any claims by any third party arising from any breach of this or any other rule.
- All ownership rights to the entries / concepts submitted will be transferred to Smokefree North West.
- By entering this contest you agree to grant Smokefree North West a license to broadcast your entry across all media and online platforms under their control.
- Entries must be received by the closing date of 5pm on Friday 25th September 2009. Applications received after the closing date will not be considered in the Competition. Smokefree North West does not accept any responsibility for late or lost entries in any circumstances. Proof of sending or uploading cannot be accepted as proof of delivery or receipt.
- By entering the Competition, you hereby warrant that all information submitted by you is true, current and complete. Smokefree North West reserves the right to verify the eligibility of all entrants. Additional evidence may be required in order to verify an entrant’s identity.
- In the case of Under 18’s, applicants must have their parents’/legal guardians’ consent to enter the Competition under these Rules.
- If you are selected to be one of the shortlist or winners and you are aged under 18, on Friday 25th September 2009 your parent or guardian will be asked to complete a CONSENT FORM on your behalf. Return of any consent forms as undeliverable or failure to reply as specified in the notification within the time stated therein may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate shortlist / winner.
- Any personal data relating to entrants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation by the Competition partners and will not be disclosed to a third party without the individual’s prior consent. Smokefree North West will only ever use your personal details for the purposes of administering this competition and other competitions or information on similar topics, and will not publish them or provide them to anyone without your permission. - Short list and winners may be requested to take part in promotional and publicity activities arranged by Smokefree Northwest and its partners and affiliates. Smokefree North West reserves the right to use the names of shortlisted entrants and winners, their photographs and audio and/or visual recordings of them in any publicity.
- Shortlist and winners will be selected on merit. The decision by Smokefree North West and the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into with regard to the selection process.
- A panel of judges will select the short list and a reserve list w/c 28th September. Short listed entrants will be contacted personally by phone and by email w/c 28th September 2009. If we are unable to contact you within 3 days your entry will be deemed to be forfeited and Smokefree North West reserves the right to offer the prize to the runner up on the reserve list.
- Shortlisted entrants will be invited to attend the campaign weekend on 10th /11th October 2009 in Trafford Hall near Chester. The organisers WILL NOT reimburse travel costs. Under 18’s attending the campaign weekend must be taken to and from the venue by a parent or guardian and subsequent filming sessions must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, youth worker or teacher.
- Attendance at the campaign weekend is not mandatory if you are unable or do not wish to attend your entry may still be taken forward, however Smokefree North West reserve the right to offer the place to another entrant.
- The shortlisted entries will be developed at the campaign weekend where the panel of young people will select 3 winners. The panel’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The winners will be contacted by w/c 12th October 2009. If we are unable to contact you for 5 days your prize will be deemed to be forfeited and Smokefree North West reserves the right to offer the prize to the runner up on the reserve list.
- The winners will be able to work with the film-makers to produce their film (they must be available with parent(s) or guardian(s) if under 18) The organizers will endeavor to incorporate key dates to suit the winners. Smokefree North West is unable to contribute to travel expenses.
- The winners will be invited to attend the premiere w/c 14th December (they must be available with parent(s) or guardian(s) if under 18). Smokefree North West is unable to contribute to travel expenses.
- Representatives from the Competition partner organisations will be in attendance at both the campaign weekend and film production days.
- The descriptions of the award prizes and selection process in any competition literature or other medium is not binding and they may be varied by the competition organisers. Prizes are non-transferable. The prize(s) must be taken as stated and cannot be deferred. There will be no cash alternatives.
- Smokefree North West cannot accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrant entering the contest or as a result of accepting any prize.
- Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and to agree to be bound by them when entering this competition.
- Smokefree North West reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the entrant has breached any of these terms and conditions.
- In the event that any entrant is disqualified from the Competition, Smokefree North West may decide whether a replacement contestant should be selected. In this event, further entrants will be selected on the same criteria as the original entrant and will be subject to these rules.
- No Competition entries will be returned.
- These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
- Smokefree Northwest reserves the right to cancel or amend the dates of this competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.
